Mostly used in Gleason Solid Body Cutters are made in HSS M2, M35 or ASP30 raw material as one solid piece with profiling on each teeth of its cutter to generate the matching profile of the spiral gear to cut. With Sizes ranging commonly in dia 1.5”, 2.75”, 3.5”, 4.5” & 5.5”, these cutters do not require any inserts or blades to give the crown or pinion correct profiling. For targeting fast quantity production these are very economically priced and also have good life before they end up.
Solid body cutters are one pcs structured cutters used in Gleason spiral bevel generators to cut pinion and gear. No mounting of any blades are required like in other cutter bodies where the blades are mounted or inserted according to do the profiling.
